Detroit Swindle The Fat Rat Zippy
This is the first EP taken from Detroit Swindle's upcoming debut album Boxed Out (DIRT 006CD/LP). First up is the title-track, a true Detroit Swindle banger that takes us back to pumping Chicago old school house times. Leon Vynehall and A1 Bassline as Laszlo Dancehall rip the track to shreds, resulting in a dark, pounding, straight up jackin' techno groove. 'The Fat Rat' is a groovy, percussive, soulful, and stabby house excursion. 'Monkey Wrench' has a slow groove, the warm sound of the Rhodes, and an Arp-y bass.
Well, I was going to post just one track, but hell, what's better than a mini mix preview! The mix starts with 'Monkey Wrench,' which is awesome because it's a bit more sped up than the original track. It takes it to this perfect, disco house hot spot. Like, you can't help but groove. Next, they roll into the title track 'Huh, What!' For this one, Detroit Swindle headed a bit west of Detroit, deep into the four-to-the-floor grind of Chicago house.
Boxed Out
From there, it swings into 'The Fat Rat' which is about as Swindle-centric as it gets. The mix closes with a version of 'Huh, What!' By Leon Vynehall and A1 Bassline under their moniker Laszlo Dancehall.Detroit Swindle is doing everything right in their forthcoming release Huh, What!, which will drop on January 27 via Dirt Crew. The release will feature 13 tracks for pure house gold, with some collaborations from Sandra Amarie and Detroit's Mayer Hawthorne. Stay updated on!
