Windows 7 Gateway M6866 laptop freezes intermittently, HDD @ 100%015 I have a Gateway M6866 laptop running on Windows 7 Ultimate. I've put up with this problem for about a year now, but I can't take it anymore.12The laptop freezes intermittently every 10-30 minutes, and then it resumes and lets me go about my business again. I've checked the resource monitor when these freeze happen, and the disk activity is locked up at 100% for about 30 - 60 seconds, sometimes longer. Neither RAM nor CPU gauges seem to be affected by these random freezes that happens randomly.

12These freezes happen with all applications, from web browser to word to email, to movies, and have been happening since I've bought the laptop last year. Yes, I've updated drivers, yes I've installed updates. No, I do not have viruses. 12Now my question would be, would replacing the hard drive be a plausible fix to this problem, or so I just chuck this horrendous Gateway out the window and play frisbee with it?
