I recently activated my free download for Windows 10 on my desktop PC. I play some new and some old games on this PC. I have Age of Empires 1 with its expansion pack The Rise of Rome, Age of Empires 2: The Age of Kings with its expansion pack The Conquerors,& Age of Empires 3 with both the Warchiefs and Asian Dynasties expansion packs. These are all from CDs, they are not downloads. After my upgrade, I cannot operate AoE 2 Age of Kings or The Conquerors, but #1 and #3 both work. I assumed that part of the problem was because I use a batch file to fix the multicolored graphics only present in AoE 2 because my PC flags the game as makingchanges to the PC and asks for Admin authority. The internet granted me one possible fix - activating the default Administrator Account that Windows 10 adds. I did so, but didn't have any change. I also reinstalled both Age of Kings and The Conquerors and readded the batch file.Let me describe what's happening: I insert my CD, click on the icon, message appears asking for Admin Auth.
To change, I click 'Yes', nothing. I get no icon on the task bar, no screen change. This is the same whether or not I right click and choose 'Runas Administrator' or attempt to run through a third party. Please assist if possible. I have the same issue with AoE II TheConquerors E xpansion, but I haven't upgraded to Windows 10. I'm still running Windows 7 serivce Pack 1.I have also been running a batch file to fix the multicolored graphics issue only present in AoE 2 with Windows7 - Question - has Microsoft fixed this color issue yet as it has been an issue for AoE players for 6 years now?My PC completed an auto update of 2 days ago & then I could not get the game to start? I restored my PC back to a restore point before the update was completed & theAoE II The Conquerors E xpansion game operated as per normal (including using the batch file to fix the color issue). When I shut my PC down the new updates installed.
On restart the AoE II The Conquerors E xpansiongame had the same issue, will not start. I just get a blank screen & then the normal desk top appears.I hope someone can assist with fixing this problem & maybe the requirement to run a batch file to fix thecolor issue of AoE II The Conquerors E xpansion.I enjoy the game & I would like to be able to continue to enjoy playing the game in the near future. Age of Empires 2 simply won't work on Windows 10 because it's using Safedisc as its DRM, and Windows 10 does not support Safedisc due to security reasons. Not the most ideal solution, but Age of Empires 2 HD (same game, but with remastered visuals and native 1920x1080 or higher support) is on Steam and does not have Safedisc. (and as such will run on Windows 10) If buying games online is not an option youcould go to your nearest gaming store and purchase a pre-paid Steam card and use that to buy the game. This is vexing to me.I have Autism, and I like certain things a certain way.
Age Of Empires Expansion Cheats
I know, I should get over it. I can survive this. Or likely go back to Windows 7.In Windows 7, in Command, I type: sc config secdrv start= (EITHER) Auto (for ON) or Disabled (for OFF)On, to start game, then turn of Explorer to fix color. When done make sure to turn OFF in Command, and restart to make SURE the secdrv thing is off.In Windows 10 they tell me there is no way. Maybe because Microsoft is involved in selling the new, 'improved' Age of Empires HD.
